Overview

Gosain Kunda is an alpine glacial lake in the Langtang National Park. The lake is located at an elevation of 4,380m in the Rasuwa district.  It covers a total area of 2500 acres, including the associated 108 lakes around. The depth of Gosain Kunda is 25.5 meters. It is also a Ramsar Site. Gosai Kunda is a headwater of the Trishuli river.  From the early autumn till early monsoon the lake remains frozen.

Gosain Kunda holds valuable Hindu mythology and is popular for religious meanings. The lake is accommodated by the Hindu deities, Mahadev and Gauri. The trek passes through gorgeous varying landscapes of Langtang, while we observe the amusing habitat of Himalayan birds, Himalayan deer, Himalayan bears, monkeys, and the slippery red panda in the Langtang National Park. Blooming rhodendrons, coniferous plants and the deserted snowfields will embellish our trek.
