Chitwan National Park is the first national park of Nepal which is also a well-preserved world heritage wealth. It was established in 1973 BS. The total area covered by the park is 952.63 sq. km. Located in the sub-tropical inner-terai plains of Nepal, Chitwan National park is the major tour incentive for people. It covers the districts like Makwanpur, Nawalpur, Parasi and Chitwan. Sauraha is the popular village in Chitwan where people go for safari and hunting. The major objective of the park is to conserve the ecosystem and endangered species.
The summer season has drastically rising temperatures and precipitation which might be a hindrance to the tourism industry. However, Autumn, winter and early spring are suitable times to venture into the Chitwan National Park. About a 4-5 hour drive from the capital, the journey is budget-friendly and convenient. There are two airports in Chitwan, namely Bharatpur airport and Meghauli airport, thus flights are also possible. The land is inhabited by various carnivores and warm-blooded animals. Even the fearsome reptiles like Python, King Cobra and mugger crocodiles haunt the dense grasslands and ponds of this land. This national park is famous for its jungle safari or jeep safari.
